Postdoctoral Fellowship in Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy Center Psychology Group | New York City
Center Psychology Group is accepting applications for a part-time, one-year postdoctoral fellowship in trauma-informed psychotherapy beginning September 2026.
Center Psychology Group is a small, doctoral-level practice founded by Dr. Pria Alpern, PhD, EMDRIA-approved therapist, consultant, and trainer. We specialize in integrative trauma therapy blending EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and psychodynamic approaches, and have become one of New York City’s most recognized settings for trauma treatment and EMDR training.
What makes this fellowship distinctive
This fellowship is designed for early-career psychologists who want to develop serious expertise in trauma treatment and EMDR. By the end of the year, fellows will have:
- Completed EMDR Basic Training (fully covered by the practice)
- Accumulated supervised hours counting toward postdoctoral licensure
- Received supervision from an EMDRIA-approved consultant and trainer
- Earned complimentary access to Manhattan Center for Trauma Studies CE courses applicable toward EMDRIA certification requirements
The combination of covered EMDR training, EMDRIA-applicable supervision, and free CE access provides fellows with a credential pathway that typically takes clinicians years and thousands of dollars to build independently.
Structure
This is a part-time, fee-for-service W2 position. Fellows are compensated at $80 per clinical session and are expected to build a caseload of 12-16 clients seen in person at our Manhattan office (200 W 57th St) and/or virtually. Fellows participate in weekly individual supervision with Dr. Alpern.
Fellows may also have the opportunity to support Manhattan Center for Trauma Studies — Dr. Alpern’s continuing education organization — through blog writing and virtual event support, providing exposure to the educational and business side of trauma-focused clinical practice. This is optional and based on interest.
Training and professional development
- EMDR Basic Training fully covered (Part 1: July 2026, Part 2: September 2026)
- Weekly individual supervision with an EMDRIA-approved consultant and trainer
- Supervised hours applicable toward EMDRIA certification
- Complimentary access to MCTS CE courses applicable toward EMDRIA certification
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology (PhD or PsyD)
- Internship completed and dissertation defended prior to start date
- Passion for trauma treatment and commitment to evidence-based, integrative care
- Malpractice insurance or ability to obtain prior to start date
